Hopi Ear Candles (Thermo-auricular Therapy)
Hopi Ear Candles is a gentle non-invasive and relaxing treatment. During the treatment the client will lie fully dressed on a couch and an ear candle will then be lit and placed gently over the entrance of the ear canal. Clients will receive a scalp massage whilst the candles are burning, finished off with a peaceful facial drainage massage.
What are Hopi Ear Candles and how do they work?
Hopi Ear Candles are hollow tubes of organically grown untreated cotton. The candles are infused with certain selected extracts such as honey, beeswax, St. John’s Wort, camomile and sage. Ruth also stocks Aroma Ear Candles; these are ear candles that have been infused with aromatherapy oils. Depending on which type of ear candle you chose for your treatment, each candle will produce a pleasant aromatic fragrance when lit and will also provide you with the beneficial properties of the aromatherapy essential oils.
Hopi Ear candles work on a chimney principle (light suction), this provides a 'massage-like' effect on the ear drum, drawing any impurities to the surface. The vibration caused by the ear candle penetrates the eardrum, which in turn vibrates the inner ear bones, eustacian tubes and the sinuses, helping to push out any blocked pressure. The heat from the ear candle and the vibration caused by the burning flame may help to soften and break up any earwax or mucus that may be blocking the tubes and sinuses within the head and ears. Any waste product that is produced by the heat / vibration is removed by the body's lymphatic system. Hopi Ear Candles do not draw hard and compact earwax up and into the ear canal during the treatment. However, some clients may find that loosened wax may be bought to the surface of the ear up to 24 hours after their treatment.
